Our Vision
We believe that learning a complex musical instrument provides innumerable benefits to a child:
- The joy and pride of doing well
- Discipline
- Coordination
- Communication
- Immersion in the great classical music and string music culture.
School music programs and especially strings programs have been a primary target for budget cuts across the country. Classics for Kids Foundation was founded in 1997 in response to those funding concerns. CFKF strengthens music programs through matching grants and mentoring. Ultimately, CFKF strives to give every child access to a stringed instrument.
Through our grants thus far, young people in more than 30 diverse communities are carrying these benefits into their other educational and life experiences.
