August 2011: Fidelity Foundation

CFKF has received a $30,000 grant from the Fidelity Foundation to expand its matching grant program to the cities of Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City. This grant will allow CFKF to further refine its grant program and evaluation in large metropolitan areas.

July 2011: Community Music Center of Boston

CFKF has awarded a $10,000 matching grant to support the Community Music Center of Boston's outreach program into the Boston Public Schools. This grant will support CMCB's acquisition of 34 violins and 9 cellos, and was made possible by the success of the May benefit performance at the JFK Library in Boston by CFKF Board member Dr. Condoleezza Rice and CFKF Director Michael Reynolds.

May 2011: Benefit Concert in Boston

Dr. Rice and Michael Reynolds

Dr. Condoleezza Rice performed a benefit concert at the JFK Library in Boston with CFKF Director Michael Reynolds in collaboration with the Forsyth Institute on May 23. They played works by Bach, Schumann and Brahms to a large audience, and Mayor Menino provided a warm welcome. Funds raised will be used to support matching grant projects in the Boston area.

May 2011: New Instruments for Blue Creek School

The Blue Creek School in Billings, Montana received a grant of 3 violins and 3 cellos for their growing string program in May 2011.

April 2011: Benefit Concert

In Redding California, Judy Salter presented a benefit performance at the McConnell Foundation headquarters, featuring North State Symphony director Kyle Wylie Pickett, regional harp superstar Candace LiVolti, and Michael Reynolds, along with talented students from the Redding and Buckeye Schools. Proceeds from this benefit will purchase many mare instruments for these great programs.

March 2011: New Instruments in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts received a grant of 5 beautiful new cellos for their string program in March 2011, made possible by a private grant from Jerome and Barbara Glickman.

December 2010: New Instruments to Redding!

In mid-December, Classics for Kids delivered 10 beautiful new violins, violas and cellos to the Redding, California schools. The Buckeye School for the Arts and the Redding School for the Arts were the recipients of this instrument grant, which was made possible by the generous people of Redding, local champion and CFKF President Emeritus Judy Salter.
