Current Projects

  • Settlement School in Philadelphia has been offered a matching grant to support the acquisition of 40 new instruments for their string program. This is made possible by a generous grant to Classics for Kids from the Fidelity Foundation, which supports expansion of our grant program into three major metropolitan areas: Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Houston, along with evaluation and refining of our grant model.
  • Community MusicWorks (www.communitymusicworks.org), a nationally renowned string program for inner-city kids in Providence, RI, has received a matching grant for 12 violins, 5 violas and 9 cellos.
  • CFKF has awarded a $10,000 matching grant to support the Community Music Center of Boston's outreach program into the Boston Public Schools. This grant supports CMCB's acquisition of 34 violins and 9 cellos, and was made possible by the success of the May benefit performance at the JFK Library in Boston by CFKF Board member Dr. Condoleezza Rice and CFKF Director Michael Reynolds.
  • Richmond, VA's CenterStage Foundation has been given a grant to support their acquisition of 35 incremental size violins for their Ready Set Play program.
  • The Salem Academy Charter School in Salem, MA has been offered a matching grant to support their acquisition of 3 violins and a cello.
  • Strings for Youth program in Canton, Michigan has been offered a matching grant to support their acquisition of 4 violins, 2 violas and a cello.
  • Sequoia Middle School in Redding, CA has received 6 violins and 3 cellos from funds raised at a benefit concert there in April 2011.
  • Buckeye School for the Arts in Redding, CA has received 5 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos from funds raised at a benefit concert there in April 2011.
  • Young Artists Debut Orchestra in Erie, PA has been offered a matching grant by CFKF toward the acquisition of 13 violins and a viola.
  • Community String Project in Bristol, RI has received a matching grant toward the acquisition of 12 violas and 9 cellos.
  • Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts has been given a grant of 5 beautiful new cellos from a special donor gift.
  • El Paso, TX School District has been given a grant of 13 violins.
  • Billings, MT Central High School and St. Francis Middle School have been given a grant of 13 violins and 3 cellos.

  • Sheridan, WY Middle School has been given a grant of 13 violins.
  • Flathead Junior High School in Kalispell, MT has been given a grant of 13 violins.
  • North Valley Music School in Whitefish, MT has been given a grant of 15 violins.
  • Blue Creek Elementary School in Billings, MT has been given a grant of 3 violins and 3 cellos.
  • Seattle, Washington's Friends of Garfield Orchestra (FOGO) has received a matching grant that has supported their acquisition of 5 violins and 5 violas.
  • Juneau, Alaska's JAMM (Juneau, Alaska Music Matters) strings program has received a matching grant toward the acquisition of 13 cellos.
  • Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association has been offered a matching grant toward the acquisition of 12 violins.
  • Project STEP in Boston, MA has received a matching grant to support their acquisition of 4 violins, 5 violas and 4 cellos.
  • Highlander Charter School in Providence, RI has been offered a matching grant toward the acquisition of 36 violins.
  • Minneapolis' McPhail Center for Music has been offered a matching grant to support their purchase of 40 violins, violas and cellos. This is made possible by a generous grant to Classics for Kids from the Fidelity Foundation, which supports expansion of our grant program into three major metropolitan areas: Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Houston, along with evaluation and refining of our grant model.
  • Flint, Michigan's Carman-Ainsworth schools have received a matching grant to support their acquisition of 12 violins, 4 violas and 6 cellos. Their match was made possible by both school funds and a generous anonymous gift from a local supporter.
  • Ellensburg, Washington's Ellensburg Christian School has been offered a matching grant toward their acquisition of 19 instruments.
  • New Orleans, Louisiana's Youth Orchestra of the Lower 9th Ward has been offered a matching grant toward their acquisition of 12 instruments.
